The Macenda Story

Eleven years of stability ended in one afternoon. Left with a choice between panic or pivot, I chose to pack my bags. Here is how getting lost in a new city helped me find my way back to myself.

The Push I Needed

Truthfully, I was already burnt out long before I lost my job. For years, I went to work every day, but my mind was elsewhere. I always dreamed of creating my own brand. I wanted to leave a trace behind me and contribute something real to the world, not just finish tasks for a boss. Then, it happened. I lost my job in a single day. The routine stopped. It was a shock, but it was also the sign I had been waiting for.

Sticking to the Plan

My move to Portugal was not an impulsive decision. I had actually applied for my residency one year earlier, while I was still working. When I lost my job, I felt a moment of panic. I asked myself, "Is this the right time?" But I refused to give up. I decided to trust my original plan. I packed my life into two suitcases and moved to Lisbon. I knew this city offered the freedom and visual inspiration that a designer needs to create.

Building Macenda

That is how Macenda was born. It is the result of that freedom. I am finally building the legacy I always dreamed of. I work from quiet corners in Lisbon, turning my inspiration into designs. It is not just about selling products; it is about sharing a philosophy of life. For the first time, I am not tired. I am building something that matters, and I am finally leaving my own mark on the world.
